Dani Oliveras prevails on the eve of the inaugural world round
The first trial of the international season has opened with the first round of the European Championship, which is a prelude for the First Round of the World Championship which will be held tomorrow, the location of this round is being held in Mancha Real, Spain. The Team Sherco riders have had excellent results in this opening round which has proven to be a very difficult event because of the very slippery conditions caused by the recent rains. Dani Oliveras has started the season out on a high note winning this first round of the European Championship. The Sherco rider Cristophe Braund finished in third place, both he and Dani were competing on the revised Sherco 3.2 4T. In the Junior category, competing on 125cc motorcycles, Sherco Team riders finished in third and fourth places. David Milan finished third and his French teammate Alexis Cervantes finished fourth. The European Championship which was contested today precedes the first round of the World Trials Championship which will be held tomorrow, the prevailing conditions will be very difficult because of the wet condition.

Albert Cabestany does not make the podium in a very difficult trial
The European Championship which was held yesterday proved to be extremely difficult as seen by the very high scores, the same thing held true for the first round of the World Trials Championship, the rain which fell all night made the sections extremely slippery and difficult. These difficult conditions translated into some very high scores with some riders taking “fives” in order to avoid the possibility of bodily harm because of the extreme difficulty.
Albert Cabestany finished in fifth place overall after having finished in fourth place after the first lap. Albert was unable to improve his score on the second lap and had to be satisfied with fifth place. Dani Oliveras, who finished in first place in the European Championship yesterday, struggled with the difficult sections, however for most of the trial he was among the top ten riders but a five in the last section caused him to lose some positions. In the Junior category the difficulty of the sections also caused some really high scores, Sherco rider Loris Gubian finished fifth and in the Junior 125 class Alexis Cervantes finished second and David Millan finished seventh.
Albert Cabestany “The trial today was very difficult because of the rain which left the sections like skating rinks, when they were marked in the dry. Besides I believe that the criterion at the moment of validation of the sections needs to be revised in accordance with the real conditions. The competition is based on the ability and dexterity of the competitors not on their ability to negotiate impossible sections. In this round some new rules have been implemented, such as a single assistant for the rider in the section. A rule that makes you more conservative on a dangerous step and on the other hand you see some marks turning a blind eye to this rule.”
Dani Oliveras was ecstatic after his victory in the first round of the European Championship, but at the same time was worried about the layout of the sections for the World Championship which was to be held on Sunday. “We spoke with the organization about the extreme difficulty of the sections as we saw that some of them were impossible when we inspected them. They basically turned a deaf ear to our concerns. It would have been suicidal to attempt some of the sections, especially with only one minder in the section with you; it was a major victory to get through them with a three, by luck no one was injured, something that would have been very easy to do. I hope that the next round will return to normality.”

Come da tradizione il torneo continentale è iniziato dalla Spagna e più
precisamente in Andalucia, terra famosa per il mare, il caldo e le
immense coltivazioni di ulivi. Ad attendere i piloti è stato però il
freddo ed il maltempo che hanno reso la gara molto scivolosa ed
impegnativa. Fabio Lenzi partiva bene concludendo il primo giro in
terza posizione nonostante due penalità di tempo per il ritardo
all’arrivo (la formula di gara prevede due giri di 15 zone cad. uno con
un tempo di 3h e 30 min. per il primo, e di 2h per il secondo). Il
ritardo accumulato è stata conseguenza di un paio di cadute e di una
foratura che hanno portato il campione bresciano ad accumulare un
po’ di ritardo, che ha influito soprattutto nel secondo giro, dove nel
tentativo di recuperare il tempo perso ha commesso qualche errore di
troppo.
I commenti di Fabio a fine gara: “Il risultato di oggi non è
sicuramente entusiasmante ma nemmeno da buttare. Ero
partito abbastanza bene ma un paio di cadute e una foratura
mi hanno fatto perdere minuti preziosi, nonostante il rapido
intervento dei meccanici al mio seguito. La gara è stata
veramente molto difficile, soprattutto quando alla fine del
primo giro ha cominciato a piovere. Da qui in poi non si stava
veramente in piedi e con il ritardo accumulato ho sbagliato
2/3 zone fondamentali per raggiungere almeno il podio. Un
grazie a tutti i ragazzi che sono stati con me in gara, anche per
loro è stata dura oggi”

Campionato Europeo e Mondiale- Prima Prova - Gp Spagna

Come già dall'anno passato il Campionato Mondiale e il Campionato Europeo partono insieme e ancora una volta dalla Spagna.

Dopo la prima giornata valida per il Campionato Europeo nella quale Brown doveva essere uno dei protagonisti, ma che invece non si è classificato neppure nei primi dieci;
il giorno successivo nel Campionato Mondiale Junior era la volta del suo riscatto rifilando ai suoi diretti avversari fino a 30 punti, dando un serio segnale per il Campionato. Il pilota inglese infatti al dodicesimo posto nell'europeo contrapponeva una splendida vittoria con un margine veramente strabiliante.

La gara era situata in una cittadina chiamata Mancha Real ( circa un' ora da Granada ) già nota per altre edizioni di gare trialistiche. Le zone erano dislocate appena fuori il paese e praticamente tutte raggiungibili dal gran pubblico accorso alla manifestazione.
Tutto sarebbe stato stupendo se al Sabato non fosse iniziata a cadere una battente pioggia che rendeva la gara estremamente dura e al limite del possibile. Le rocce già scivolose anche se asciutte, con la pioggia diventavano come lastre di ghiaccio, infastidendo i piloti poichè le sezioni diventavano anche pericolose.

Nella gara valevole per il Mondiale i big facevano punteggi a se, dopo di loro rimaneva un vuoto. Blazusiak era in difficoltà e non riusciva neppure a reagire anzi, accumulava sempre più cadute rovinose sia per il suo fisico che per la moto. Per lui il punteggio finale era veramente alto e ancora non degno del suo livello. Sicuramente ci sarà modo di allenarsi ancora più pesantemente e soprattutto in ambienti scivolosi come quello di questa gara per cercare di colmare il gap.

Daniele Maurino invece, si sentiva poco a suo agio su un terreno molto difficile per lui. Va riconosciuto però che il Piemontese con molta caparbietà ha provato quasi tutte le zone.
Il punteggio finale lo relega appena fuori dai punti mondiali ( 16 ).

Nel Campionato Europeo, ancora un sedicesimo posto per il team con il "Ceco" Martin Kroustek ancora privo di allenamento.

Il Top Trial Team continuerà a allenarsi in vista della seconda prova del Campionato Italiano dove Daniele Maurino dovrà cercare con tutte le forze di mantenere la leadership conquistata con la vittoria nella prima prova.
